    Here are some important things you should be aware of regarding your legal problem with a utilities company:

    • Most utilities have an ombudsman scheme.
    • You may have a time bound obligation to pay money to your current utilities provider before you can switch to a new supplier.
    •  If you signed a fixed-term contract (a contract which ends at a certain time) with your existing supplier, you may be charged additional fees if you want to switch before this time is up.
    • The supply of Electricity, Water and Gas are each regulated by a separate Act.
